About Alice Acreman Silks

I am Alice; an artist, designer, and storyteller whose work is inspired by a lifelong love of travel, colour, and the beauty found in cultures and nature around the world. Every journey I take becomes a source of inspiration, these experiences are translated into my drawings and paintings, where each composition tells a story through overlayed motifs and carefully curated colour palettes. At the heart of my practice is the belief that art should be lived with, not simply admired from a gallery wall. I combine my art with product design, textiles, and fashion, transforming my original paintings into beautifully crafted pieces that become part of everyday life. I worked with skilled artisans to bring my creations to life with their expertise and produce my pieces in small batches. My approach is rooted in a slow fashion ethos; creating pieces with intention, care, and longevity rather than following the fast turnaround cycle of high street fashion. Each design can take many hours to create, with some prints having taken over 100 hours of detailed work before they are ready to be transformed into a product. I believe this time, patience, and craftsmanship should be reflected in the lifespan of the final piece, which is why my designs remain available for longer periods rather than being replaced by constantly changing trends. By creating thoughtfully designed pieces in small numbers, I hope to encourage a more meaningful relationship between people and the objects they choose to bring into their lives. My work celebrates individuality, quality craft, and the joy of owning something that has a story behind it.
